Gorgeous, stunning, and humbling. If you have never visited a national cemetery And you are in the South San Francisco area, you should pay your respects and stop here. It's very calming and peaceful as you walk around the different graves and realize the many lives that were lost and warfare and those who were lucky enough to live many years past their service. My family enjoys coming here and just walking and enjoying the peaceful scenery. My grandparents are buried here. It's a lovely place where many lives are memorialized.
Breathe taking memorial of our fellow Veterans. It's speechless to see some times to see over 147,000 memorial memories. Just a beautiful place too visit.
Highly recommend it to everyone.
I've lived in the bay area most of my life and drove by for years. I never stopped but it always caught my eyes passing by on 280 since i was a child.
Until now. Worth the stop and going back soon. See images taken.
This 161 acre cemetery with 113,000 gravestones (and 143,500 interments) is a rather unique and moving sight. Open daily from 8am to 5pm. Most famous grave is that of FADM Chester Nimitz.
I've been coming here for 66 years. It's such a beautiful place. I find peace & comfort knowing we're all connected via our military members🕯️🇺🇲🕯️
A beautiful cemetery. I came here on vacation to visit my great grandmother. I never met her, but I would've loved to. Someone put the American flag on every gravestone on Memorial Day, and I appreciated that. You should pay your respects here. Please do not step on the gravestones.
Beautiful place. No pets allowed. Went here with our dog because we couldn’t find any info on if it was allowed, but this sign was at the front saying no pets (and no recreation / jogging / biking).
My father and twin brother are buried here. My father's military burial was beautifully orchestrated and meaningful. It is one of the proudest moments of my life to see the American flag lowered to half staff as my father's motorcade passed by.
My mother used to work at Golden Gate national cemetery when we lived in San Bruno in the late 1950`s. We children would play there as kids sometimes. Now she is buried there. A very peaceful place......
